# Duplicate an assistant

> Start a new assistant from a copy of one you already have.

When you want a second assistant that works much like one you have, for example one for another branch or another website, duplicate it instead of starting from scratch. You need the Pro plan to have more than one assistant.

## Duplicate it

**1. Open the assistant**

Go to [**Assistants**](https://baza.chat/dashboard/assistants) and open the
one to copy.

**2. Press Duplicate**

Press **⋯** at the top right, then **Duplicate**. Change the name if you
like, then press **Duplicate**.

**3. Make it its own**

Baza opens the copy. Change what should be different, then add it where
customers can reach it.

## What the copy gets

* **Its settings:** instructions, tone, welcome message, what it does when a customer needs a person, bookings and orders, its business details and links, its picture and background, and how its website chat looks.
* **Its knowledge:** websites, facts, files and catalogues, with what it already learned from them. Nothing is read again, so copying uses no credits.
* **Its actions**, with their keys.

## What stays with the original

* **Channels.** Each WhatsApp number, Instagram account and Gmail address is answered by one assistant, so the copy starts with none. The copy has its own website chat, with its own code to paste.
* **Conversations, customers and history.**

## If your knowledge would be too much

Knowledge counts toward your plan's limits across all your assistants. If copying it would go past them, the copy is made without its knowledge, and Baza tells you why. Add what it needs under **Knowledge**, or remove something you no longer use.
